修行僧は黒、住職などは紺や茶など黒以外の色を着用する場合が多い 神社神職も作務衣を使用するが、この場合白、その名称は白作務衣などと言う 着やすい為現在では僧侶固有のものとしてではなく甚平と共に単なる部屋着の一種として扱われるている 熱心な愛好者もいる。
